Brief Description:

The world around you, may not be as bright as the one in your mind. Your imagination is as deep as the ocean, and your cheeriness rises like iridescent bubbles around you. Never lose that side of you, and I will always remain at your side. (Technical Details at bottom)

The Story:

Meifen's imagination was only rivaled by the mysterious of the unexplored. She loved her mom, and she loved the stories her mom read to her before bed.

Life was perfect.

But one fateful day, Meifen returns from an adventure by the beach to ruins. The house is in shambles. Meifen calls out, "Mom? Mom?! MOM! Can you hear me?"

"Can you hear me?"

"Mom..."

Meifen's mind betrays her eyes. Her legs run and her mind races. She becomes lost in the turmoil of her thoughts. The sea that is her imagination pulls her down, down, down...

There's nothing down here anymore. Meifen can't even dry her tears, for everything is drowned away. But slowly, hey, those are the corals that Mom would read about to Meifen. When the colorful fish of these corals get scared, they also hide away down here. And even down here, the feintest of light manages to hit a single pearl. Light reflects and refracts into iridescent beams all around her. The fish swim out and for a moment, the bubbles from the churning water coalesces into one form.

It reaches out, and grabs her hand...

"Be strong for me, Meifen. Things will be okay."

The bubbles flow upwards. In a raging torrent of currents and pressure, Meifen is swept away. Which way is up? Which way is down?

She manages to open her eyes for a moment. The bubbles. Mom must be guiding her now. The bubbles float upwards!

Swim. Kick! Push! Overcome it all! There's no time to fall. Mom needs you. We need you.

"MOM! Can you hear me?!"

...

"Meifen? Is that you?"

You finally hear her feint voice from inside the rubble. Kick! Push! Now, PULL! Overcome it all!

Genre: Fantasy Orchestral Soundtrack

Runtime: 9 minutes (8:57)

Software: Ableton Live (composing), Davinci Resolve (video editing), Sample Libraries like EastWest for instrument plugins.

Inspirations: Ori and the Blind Forest was a huge one for this soundtrack.

Theme: A girl's imagination was her safest place, and her mother was the foundation...
